This is extremely dangerous and not very well thought out. That the NIH could even approve monies for this study is troubling in and of itself. Perhaps the language used to secure the grant was misleading in some fashion because trigging dysphoria in someone who is already suffering from dysphoria seems mean spirited and callous regardless of how semantically cute the paper for grant funds sounded.
